Prof. Ion PARASCHIVOIU, École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada

Chairperson of the Organizing Committee

General Chairman of the ISWTP - 2017

Prof. Ion Paraschivoiu is renowned in the wind industry for his significant contributions to the theory of the aerodynamic performance of the Darrieus vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT). He developed the Double Multiple Stream Tube model and CARDAAV code which he has used in extensive computer modeling to assist wind turbine engineers in the design and evaluation of VAWT field tests. Dr. Paraschivoiu is a Full Professor of undergraduate and graduate courses in Aerodynamics and Wind Turbines at École Polytechnique de Montréal. He published over 200 Journal and Conference Proceedings papers and 6 books on Fluid Dynamics, Subsonic Aerodynamics and Wind ...

Prof. CAMPOREALE Sergio M. Associate Professor of Fluid Machinery, Politecnico di Bari, ITALY

Prof. Camporeale Sergio obtained his Laurea Degree (five years degree) in Mechanical Engineering, in 1983 at the University  of Bari, with honours.

Subsequently, after the military service, he was employed as researcher at the National Agency for Energy and Environment (ENEA). From 1992 to 2001, he was assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Reggio Calabria, Italy, before joining the Politecnico di Bari, in 2001. Presently, Sergio Camporeale is associate professor of Fluid Machinery at the Faculty of Engineering of “Politecnico di Bari” University, Italy...

Prof. HARA Yutaka, Doctor of Engineering, Tottori University, Japan

Prof. Hara Yutaka graduated from the course of Electronic-Mechanical Engineering of Nagoya University in 1987. He got the Doctor of Engineering in 1993 from Nagoya University with the dissertation entitled Study on Measurement of Temperature and Number Density by CARS. Dr. Hara had studied laser measurement techniques of rarefied gases and had interests in optical nonlinear phenomena and he had worked at Nagoya University as a Research Associate or an Assistant Professor until 1997. Dr. Hara moved to Tottori University as an Associate Professor in April of 1997. He began the study of wind power since 2000. When Professor Tsutomu Hayashi, who was the superior of Dr. Hara, invited Professor Ion Paraschivoiu to Tottori University from September, 2004 to May, 2005...

P. Eng. Marten David, Mechanical Engineering and Physics, Berlin, Germany

P. Eng. Marten David studied mechanical engineering and physics, with a focus on aerodynamics in Dresden and Berlin. In 2010 he initiated the open source wind turbine design and simulation software project QBlade. Over the years he constantly expanded QBlade's functionality and applied the software in numerous national and international projects and QBlade quickly became a "standard" software for wind turbine aerodynamics that is applied in research, education and industry worldwide. Currently he is working as a research fellow and project leader on QBlade development at the wind energy group of the TU Berlin chair of fluid ...

Prof. Paraschivoiu Marius, Concordia University, Montréal, Canada

Prof. Paraschivoiu has received a PhD in 1998 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MASc and BEng from École Polytechnique de Montréal. Dr. Paraschivoiu has joined Concordia University as an Associate Professor in the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in 2003. He has been promoted to the rank of professor at Concordia University in 2010. His research is focused on developing algorithm for more accurate simulations in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with application to Wind Energy and Hydrogen storage...
